IP Infrastructure
a worldwide centralised "one-Hop" backbone IP
Main features
The main features of this network are :
  • a proprietary backbone warranties a full control of the quality of the IP transit,
  • an all-IP backbone on Sonet/SDH, without voice, ATM or Frame-relay,
  • a single AS number (6461) delivering a centralised "One-Hop" infrastructure,
  • a capacity of over 250 Gbps therefore allowing Neo Telecoms to issue an offer without any bandwidth limitation. The European loop has a capacity of 22 Gbps, the transatlantic link of 40 Gbps,
  • a fully redundant infrastructure offering perfect reactivity for all SLAs,
  • an overcapacity of 100% on each link to meet any traffic peek, to prevent slowness and reduce the rate of data loss over a transmission,
  • high-quality equipment comprising Cisco and Juniper switches and routers.

Network structure
ABOVENET builds its networks with its own fibers. Such policy allows to increase fastly the capacity of the network with virtually no limit.
Topology and points of presence
The ABOVENET backbone is articulated around 4 main hubs (San Jose, California for the west coast of the United States and Asia; Vienna, Virginia and New York for the east coast of northern America; London for Europe), as the concerned cities concentrate most of the worldwide Internet traffic.

The main knots of the ABOVENET network are hosted in ABOVENET's ISX.
